Twittering Fool…or, something like that

In exploring the past few days I’ve focused on Twitter. My first post on Twitter was 9/8/08. At the time I couldn’t figure out how to use it in class. I’m getting better ideas about how to use it from readings and staying with it. The article in my first post had ideas about how to use it in class. In recent exploring I’ve run into an engaging 8 ways Twitter will change your life article. John Welsch has a blog article that serves as a nice introduction to Twitter by providing an outline of types of twitters and twitter etiquette.

The Wall Street Journal also had an article on the growth of Twitter in the business world Twitter gone mainstream! Zappos is using Twitter for internal communications. Comcast for marketing and customer service. Talkshoe regularly updates services issues via Twitter. It is in fact the best way to get updates on that service.

Then there are 47- (count them) Twitter tools! My favorites were Twitteruly where you get a top list of what’s being twittered about – this could be used as pulse of Twitter or similar to headline news (or, rumors on steroids). Just tweet it is a directory where you can find people interested in a common topic and put them on your tweet list. There is an education list that has quite a few ILT types.
See also Jane Hart’s directory of eLearning Professionals on Twitter. Fantastic resource of professionals who you can follow.

Finally for fun, check out Tweetwheel which makes a cool graphic made from your Twitter contacts. Kinda fun. Very pretty!
