Thinking about music….. maybe it is more effective to use music without words to communicate. Or, be very careful that the words line up with the message you’re trying to convey. A lot of soundtracks do use music without lyrics. Using the “Betty Blue” bit in my music-bio helped me to summarize a lot of chaos associated with my 20s. There were no lyrics to complicate the feeling of the music.selections being in a foreign language also made me think that maybe it is just the music that communicates effectively. I definitely didn’t get sidetracked trying to figure out some deeper meaning on the foreign language tracks.

Soundtracks also associate characters with a certain musical melody or sound. The melody can then build on that sound as the plot changes. Could that be used in communication / presentations?

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=339 had segment entitled “Break Up” this week with a story by Starlee Kine that details her search for the perfect break up music to convey her mixed up emotional state after a break up. She ends up writing her own song. Songs to convey emotions, tell a story example. Teaching idea…write a song to describe an incident in your life.
